Sunshine Islands Bus Simulator Guide

Sunshine Islands Bus Simulator buses and operators

Quick answer

Five operators run the network — Sunshine Express, Horizon, City Scape Bus, REBC and Forever Transit — and every fleet must ship announcements, signals, a driver tablet and working lights.

Five bus companies run the scheduled network in Sunshine Islands, and the vehicles themselves are the reason the game feels like a transit system rather than a driving toy.

The five operators

This table comes from the official Sunshine Islands operator page, which lists the company, its territory and its chief executive.

What the regulator requires of every fleet

The Sunshine Islands Bus standard is the reason the vehicles behave the way they do in game. Registered fleets must have:

  • Working automated announcements and turn signals.
  • A driver tablet in the cab.
  • Working exterior and interior lights.
  • A working wheelchair ramp and kneeling function on low-floor buses.
  • No real-world manufacturer or company logos anywhere on the vehicle.

That last rule is why every bus carries a fictional nameplate: real badges were stripped from Version 1 vehicles and replaced so the game could avoid trademark problems while keeping the models recognizable.

Which vehicles you can drive

AccessHow it works
Standard fleetAvailable immediately — most vehicles are not gated behind progression
Rare vehiclesUnlocked at level 10 through Rare Appearance Daily Challenges
Free Drive exclusivesPirate Ship, Honda Civic Type R and Family Bicycle — usable only in Free Drive, not in shifts
Private hire chartersAny operator's bus, including older or unusual types booked for a group trip

Buses also vary by operator in how their destination displays behave. LED displays on Sunshine Islands Bus, Forever Transit, Forever Transit Central Connect and REBC vehicles can be signed for any route in the Islands by typing a route code, because routes from other companies do not appear in their tablet lists. CSB and Horizon vehicles only expose their own franchise routes, so signing them a foreign route shows the company logo instead.

Choosing a bus for learning

  • Single-deck with one door (for example the Enviro200) simplifies boarding: nobody boards until everyone has alighted, so there is no rear-door timing to manage.
  • Two-door double deckers let you open the rear door for alighting, but AI passengers still board only through the front.
  • Anything with a ramp needs the J key handled at stops where a wheelchair user is waiting — kneeling and ramp deployment are separate functions with no shortcut for kneeling.

If you are screenshotting for a guide, the destination display is worth catching: route number, terminus in English and Chinese, and any company-specific colour box.
