Sunshine Islands Bus Simulator daily challenges
Daily Tasks and Daily Challenges both reset at 00:00 UTC / 08:00 HKT; tasks pay 10 Sunshards each plus 30 for the set, and a finished challenge shift pays 20.
Sunshine Islands has two different daily systems that share a reset time: Daily Tasks, which everyone gets, and Daily Challenges, which unlock at level 10 and hand you an actual route to drive.

Daily Tasks: the four-box checklist
Daily Tasks are simple counters you fill by playing normally. They reset at 00:00 UTC / 08:00 HKT.
| Task | Target |
|---|---|
| Join the game | Log in that day |
| Finish bus shifts | 3 shifts |
| Carry passengers | 350 passengers |
| Drive distance | 30 km in one day |
| Bonus | Complete all three of the main tasks |
Each completed task pays 10 Sunshards, and clearing all three adds a further 30 Sunshards. The in-game panel also shows an experience reward line for the daily set — treat anything shown there as what your own client displays, since the exact bonus text has changed between updates.
Daily Challenges: one assigned run per day
Daily Challenges were introduced in Version 2.0 and sit behind level 10. Instead of free choice, the game assigns a route or a private-hire run, and you are paid in Sunshards for completing it.
| Action | Reward |
|---|---|
| Finish the assigned shift | 20 Sunshards |
| First time completing that route | +5 Sunshards |
| First time completing it on pro mode | +15 Sunshards |
| Completing a challenge route (range quoted by the wiki) | 20 to 700 Sunshards |
| Winning a race on racing day | Quoted as high as 800 Sunshards, decreasing by placing |
Because the challenge can be a route you have never unlocked, it is the normal way players try content they have not reached yet.
Racing days
On top of the challenge, racing events run on Sundays, plus Saturdays and some weekdays during the Hong Kong summer holiday period. Routes are normally randomised, although the owner has picked routes by Discord vote or anniversary before.
| Race | Rule |
|---|---|
| Rush Hour Rush | Fastest time wins. Developer settings for acceleration, deceleration and passenger walking speed are allowed. |
| Safety First | Every dangerous-driving offence adds a danger point; lowest points, then time, wins. Deceleration set above 150% still penalises you for forcing hard stops. |
| Grumble Day | Passengers complain constantly — speeding over 70 km/h, more than 10 seconds of hard acceleration or deceleration, driving while people are walking to a seat, and above 45 km/h with standing passengers all trigger complaints. |
| Urban Odyssey | Complete route 77X via the Senpai Multi-Storey Parking Garage in the least time. Widely disliked because of the routing. |
Private hire challenges
When a Daily Challenge is a private hire, you drive between 4 and 7 stops scattered across the Islands and only drop passengers off at the final stop. Some runs exceed 10 km between stops, so plan for highway work rather than a short hop.
Sunshards: everything that pays
| Source | Amount |
|---|---|
| Daily login (scales with streak) | Varies |
| First time driving a route | 5 |
| First time finishing a route on pro mode | 15 |
| 25 minutes on a route | 7 (14 by 50 minutes) |
| Completing a Daily Task | 10, plus 30 for all three |

| Race win | Up to 800 (per placement) |

Boosts matter: Ultimate Boost owners earn 50% more, a server with the Triple Sunshards boost pays 300%, and Roblox Plus subscribers get 10% extra. The two big boosts do not stack with each other.
What Sunshards buy
Special routes are the main sink: the special departures of U47, sightseeing routes S1 and S2, and Sunshine Stadium specials. Progression itself — levels, most routes, most vehicles — is earned by driving, not purchased.
